  1. COUNTRY PESACH TRADITIONS
Israel- Each Pesach, Jews everywhere recount the story of the Exodus, taste the matzah and the edible items on the Seder plate, ask the Four Questions, open the door for Elijah, and look for the Afikomen.
Russia- Pesach for Jews living in Russia, would have involved a tremendous amount of cleaning in the first place - in order to get rid of every last speck of chametz. Everything that usually lived inside the house would be carried outside for cleaning. Vast quantities of water would be boiled and all the furniture would be scrubbed and scoured clean. The wood would often be sanded as well. Meanwhile, the inside of the house would be dusted, brushed, scrubbed and painted. Then the furniture and all the other things would be put back inside. Just before Pesach, each family would undertake a ceremonial search for chametz, using a wooden spoon and a feather as a dustpan and brush.

Canada and America- some Ashkenazic families to place a special cup on the Seder table called Miryam's Cup. This is in memory of Miryam, the sister of Moses, who the Bible tells us was a prophetess and led the Jewish women in dancing after they crossed safely through the Red Sea.
