An Ordinary Hero (an ECB activity)

What makes an ordinary person a hero? Do you know any 'ordinary' people who have characteristics similar to those of superheroes? What makes these people special?

You are going to read about ordinary people who have been singled out as heroes because they have performed challenging deeds or motivated people to support important causes.

Choose one of the heroes listed and complete the activity An Ordinary Hero (download the activity page ). You may want to read the descriptions before you choose.

Prepare a presentation about the hero you have chosen. It may be:
  • a letter to the hero thanking him or her
  • a poster
  • a PowerPoint presentation
  • a role-play
  • a letter to a newspaper
  • an advertisement in a newspaper, on television or radio
Post your presentation in the blog.

Read and evaluate one of your friends' posts. Use the rubric page.

Eating Out in an Usual Restaurant

People all over the world like to eat out - it's easy, affordable (in many cases) and FUN!
So many people, so many tastes. Every place is different for its environment, service and menu. Some restaurants seem to be quite ordinary and are very often dull. You would never step in there unless you are really starving. Others, suggest incredible combinations of food and fantastic atmosphere of exploring something unknown.  Eating out in such an usual restaurant may become an unforgettable experience and will make you "hungry" for more.
I invite you to explore the world of delicious tastes mixed with creativity and challenge!
